The Wellness Committee of the John Glenn School continues to look at ways in which our school can encourage students and staff to focus on a healthier lifestyle. As you know, the holidays are quickly approaching, and with this starts the season of parties with friends, families and classmates. The committee is requesting that all snacks for classroom parties be of the healthy variety. We realize it is often hard to get those nutritious foods into the menu, so we compiled a list of healthy snacks you may find helpful for classroom parties or even to try with your child at home! (Many of these ideas actually came from our John Glenn students!!)

Feel free to add your own healthy snack ideas to our list so it can continue to grow throughout the year!

Healthy Snack Ideas

*Veggies - the kids LOVE them – carrots, cucumbers, celery sticks, peppers, broccoli, etc (Try some with a veggie or ranch dip for extra flavor!)

*Fruit (pre-sliced or whole) - apples, grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, pears, cherries, bananas, cherry tomatoes, or anything in season (Yogurt or fruit dips are also a treat!)

*pretzels, popcorn, flavored rice cakes to satisfy the CRUNCH!

*cheese sticks

*pumpkin seed

* Chex mix

*Dried Fruit
